  TESTIMONIALS
"...This is an excellent program. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to this when researching for task management programs. Very low learning curv, quite flexible, and the price is right. Tried at least 20 other programs, either too complicated, too expensive, or poor documentation..."

Vacation Planning Checklist

We all like vacations. A vacation is a temporary event when we can spend our free time on fun and recreation and forget about normal life. The way how you plan your next vacation will define the success of your recreation and fun. Read the given below vacation planning checklist to learn how to plan your vacation.

  1. Getting prepared.
    • The overall objective of your vacation trip. You may want to have a simple relaxation journey that you’ve been expecting since last winter, or maybe you are going to utilize a learning opportunity for you and your kinds? Think of the overall objective of your vacation and answer the question: "Why and how do I want to spend my vacation?" For the best self-organization, it is recommended to use tools of task management software (like VIP Organizer) to plan your objectives and create a worksheet. In your worksheet there can be a lot of things that need attention and care while you are on vacation. Here are several critical things:  Home Security, Housekeeping, Mail Arrangements and Pet Treatment. Write down your overall objectives in your list of tasks. You also need to outline a contingency plan in your worksheet. Such a plan covers steps to take care of any unexpected and emergency situations that may arise in your absence while you are on vacation.
    • Date and duration of travel. It is recommended to outline a schedule of your travel and put there dates and time of departing from and arriving at the airport, as well as visiting places of interest. Use software to develop a calendar that includes a day-by-day guide that you will follow during your vacation trip.
    • Destination. Spend a sufficient amount of time on familiarizing yourself with the destination you want to get to. You can read history of the places you are going to visit and buy a good map or guide book. This tip is highly important if you plan to travel outside the country.
    • Language. If you do not know any foreign language, it will be greatly helpful if you learn to say several important phrases, like "Hello, Thank You, Taxi, Hotel, Restrooms, Restaurant". You can record the most important phrases in your sheet by using task management software. If you are going to take your kids with you, make sure they have their own translation books and phrase books. Also make sure your kids have read some family tips so they are aware of how to behave in common situations and in case of emergency.
    • Staying. Think of available stay options and desired places of stay. If you plan to stay at a hotel, you can use Internet search to look for good deals and book an apartment in advance. In case you are going to camp outside, you may have to make special arrangements.
    • Budget. Define an amount of money required for travelling and think about how you will intend to carry your money. Your budget should cover necessary arrangements (such as hotel reservation, airline tickets, car rental etc.), entertainment and shopping. Also you need to find out whether you can use your credit cards, or special payment arrangements are required. If you intend to visit foreign countries, it is essential to plan your vacation trip carefully to avoid slippage in converting your money into local currencies.
    • Clothing. Your clothes will essentially depend on what you want to do and in which climate. If you are going to make a winter vacation trip, take care of warm clothes. If you intend to visit tropical countries, make sure you have packed your beachwear and sunglasses. Regardless of climate and weather, you may need such attributes as digital camera, binoculars, cell phone, and some kind of formal dress (such as dinner jacket).
    • Documents. Take care of validity and availability of the following documents:
      • Passport and Visa
      • Necessary vaccination and medical admission documents
      • Hotel reservation and travel reservation documents
      • Travel insurance documents that cover the whole duration of your vacation trip
      • Your driver's license and registration
      • Map with expected routes of travelling
      • Medicines. First aid is one of the primary items of most family tips. During your vacation trip, it is of high importance to have all necessary medicines at hand so you can immediately give first aid on case of emergency. Make sure you have packed the following necessary medicines: aspirin or analgesic, decongestant or cold/sinus medication, mosquito repellent, anti-itch cream, bandages, antiseptic spray, medicines that have an anti-diarrheal effect, special and prescription medications. You can use task management software to design a form where you will write down all necessary medicines.
  2. Avoiding unwanted stress and confusion at the last minute before your departure.
    • Pack your travel bags well in advance.
    • Keep a sufficient amount of money ready.
    • Pay all pending bills. Also make arrangements for bills that may become payable during your vacation.
    • If your kids come with you, you may have to plan for their absence and homework assignments in advance
    • Check availably and validity of the following documents:
      • Passport and Visa
      • Airline tickets
      • Emergency cash and travel checks
      • Rental car vouchers and hotel vouchers
      • Necessary medicines and insurance documents
      • Use Internet to search websites for any potential issues with services of the hotels and resorts, travel agencies, car rental companies and airways you intend to use during your vacation trip. Being aware of potential issues will help you make your vacation planning on a budget.
