Defining project roles:
- Define critical (key) and ordinary activities of the project
- Classify project roles that will manage this activities
Defining the project resources requirements and resources availability:
- Create a detailed list of responsibilities for each role
- Define what skills and professional crafts are required to fulfill these responsibilities
- Elaborate ways, methods, style, instruments of collaboration among roles
- Create a list of human resources available
- Define if they posses sufficient skills to cover roles requirements
Make a tab for each role where columns represent required skills, and lines - persons available, mark out columns which person could cover.
- If there are no candidates which can cover all columns - define if it is possible to teach available persons with missing skills or it is expedient to engage new specialists
Assigning human resources:
- Delegate project roles to human resources that meet role requirements
Assign resources to Work Packages in the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) using a Responsibility Assignment Matrix
- Define what resources require additional training
Perhaps some resources require additional training related with new technologies adopted or career development.
- Prepare resources training plan
- Ensure that assigned resources clearly understand their roles
Arrange the project team kick-off meeting. The primary target of the team kick-off meeting is to obtain commitment from team members, introduce key stakeholders and make team members aware of project specifics and guidelines.
