The steps explain how to plan and sequence process activities, set dependencies, determine durations, and make a schedule.   1. Plan Activities
    • Have a clear idea of activities needed to perform your process
    • Set process objectives and goals
    • List resources needed for accomplishing activities and reach process objectives and goals
    • Make a full description of activities
    • Describe every activity as a series of short steps and tasks
    • Set evaluation criteria to check activity effectiveness and revise activities if needed
    • Make a process plan to have a detailed summary of work to be done
  2. Sequence Activities
    • Select and use a priority method (e.g. Grid Analysis, Activity Priority Matrix, Urgent-Important Matrix, Pareto Analysis) to sequence activities by priorities
    • Determine preceding and succeeding activities
    • Set priorities for activities to make a prioritized activity sequence
    • Determine the first activity and the last activity of your process
    • Have a clear and complete representation of the activity sequence (e.g. by using a process flow diagram)
    • Integrate the activity sequence into your activity plan
  3. Set Dependency
    • Use the activity plan to get an overview of your process activities
    • Determine which types of dependency (itemized below) is to set for your activity sequence:
      • Finish to Start
      • Finish to Finish
      • Start to Start
      • Start to Finish
      • Rearrange the activity sequence in accordance with the dependencies set
      • Make necessary adjustments to your process activity plan
  4. Estimate Duration
    • Select a method for estimating activity durations (e.g. Expert judgment, Analogous estimating ,Three-point estimating, Reserve analysis)
    • Estimate the number of work periods needed to perform each activity
    • Document your estimations by creating an activity timeline
    • Use this document as the basis for scheduling time for your process
    • Develop a drafted schedule for the process
  5. Develop the Schedule
    • Review a drafted version of your process schedule
    • Be sure activity estimates as well as activity sequence are correct, accurate and relevant
    • Check your activity plan against evaluation criteria you set at the Plan step
    • Approve the drafted schedule if the plan is ok
    • Develop the final version of your process schedule
  6. Share the Schedule
