  1. Creating Process Profiles.
    • Identify all current and ongoing processes
    • Have performance criteria available for use
    • Determine performance baseline (desired levels of process performance)
    • Measure performance per process by using the criteria
    • Focus on processes that show lower performance comparing to the baseline
    • Review the processes and create their profiles that include Process Description, Performance Level, Impact Statement, and Recommendations
    • Submit the profiles to analysts that must develop further course of action 
  2. Performing Analysis.
    • Analyze process profiles to determine symptoms of problems
    • Identify scope of every problem (e.g. poor communications, resource unavailability, lack of leadership)
    • Perform root-cause analysis to determine probable reasons of every identified problem
    • Isolate every problem and its causes from the rest problems in order to understand the problem’s individual effect to related processes

    • Create a problem inventory that describes all problems, their reasons, and impacts to related processes
    • Use this inventory to plan for further actions required for process problem solving

    • Find out if there is a workaround to disregard any of the problems added to the inventory
    • If yes, be sure that existing process capabilities are sufficient for implementing available workarounds
    • If no, try to develop a corrective plan for solving process problems
    • Confirm process changes are managed and controlled effectively
    • Begin to implement your plan
    • Keep track of status of every problem until the problem is resolved or regarded as unsolvable
    • Determine any failed activities and identify failure reasons
