  TESTIMONIALS
"...This is an excellent program. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to this when researching for task management programs. Very low learning curv, quite flexible, and the price is right. Tried at least 20 other programs, either too complicated, too expensive, or poor documentation..."

  1. Preparing for an earthquake.
    • Listen to local radio stations and TV programs to identify type of alert and consider what you can do to minimize damages .
    • Fasten bookcases, shelves and other tall furniture securely to the walls.
    • Use latches to lock cupboards and cabinets.
    • Move heavy objects and glass pieces to lower shelves.
    • Make sure all heavy items (like framed pictures and mirrors) are removed from the walls near beds and couches. All light fixtures should be also removed.
    • Store flammable items in locked cabinets.
    • Repair any deep cracks in foundations and ceilings.
    • Think over the safest places in your house and let your family know about these places. Consider the following safest spots:
      • Under a sturdy table
      • Hallways and doorways
      • A spot against a wall where nothing can fall on the floor
      • A spot away from any large furniture, windows, framed pictures, and mirrors
    • Contact your local Red Cross chapter to find out the locations of nearby disaster shelters.
    • Choose a radio station to be aware of the latest warning information and reports.
    • Give your family members oral emergency plan instructions about how to shut off the gas, electricity and water. Make sure a written list of the instructions is placed near valves.
    • Make sure functioning fire extinguishers are available in your house.
    • Assemble the emergency preparednesskit (see the second item of this given earthquake emergency plan).
  2. Earthquake essentials
    • Plenty of bottled clean water (about four gallons are for a family of 4 persons).
    • Nonperishable food (such as canned vegetables, canned meats) and stainless, nonelectrical can openers.
    • Basic first-aid kit which includes bandages, antibiotic ointments, antihistamines, ibuprofen or paracetamol, prescription drugs, sterile pads.
    • At least two fire extinguishers.
    • A battery-operated radio receiver (to be used as an earthquake tracker) with extra batteries.
    • At least two flashlights with extra batteries.
    • Waterproof matches and long-life candles.
    • Sturdy shoes and dust masks for each member of your family.
    • At least two pairs of gloves.
    • A map of the area (to locate shelters).
    • Antibacterial liquid soap, garbage bags, toilet paper, feminine hygiene supplies, baby wipes.
    • Identification and copies of family documents.
    • Money. Copies of insurance policies, financial records.
    • At least two cell phones. A list of important phone numbers (to phone family members, fire department, Red Cross etc.), so that you can request emergency services teams for the actual earthquake map to know what locations are suffered most of all, and for the risk map to know which locations are still under the risk.
  3. Earthquake emergency checklist (what to do when the shaking starts )
    • Indoors. If you are in your house, the first thing to do is to move to doorways and hallways...
